Past Events

NHS App Drop-in Session - 2025

In the summer of 2025, North Colchester PCN hosted an NHS App drop-in session at Bluebell Surgery to support our PCN-wide patient base. This session gave patients the opportunity to receive one-to-one help with setting up and using the NHS App. The NHS App offers quick and secure access to services such as booking appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions, viewing test results, and checking medical records, all from the convenience of a smartphone or device.

By holding this drop-in session, we were able to make the process easier for patients, answer questions in person, and help more people feel confident using digital tools to manage their healthcare.

Connection Café - 2025

In the summer of 2025, North Colchester PCN hosted a Connection Café in partnership with local organisations offering free services to support mental health and wellbeing. The event created a welcoming space for people to meet, share experiences, and find out about the support available within the community. Our Health Coaches, Social Prescribers, Care Coordinators, and Pharmacist attended all of the Hubs, ensuring that visitors could access advice and guidance tailored to their needs.

Winter Hubs - 2024

We were delighted to host a recent community event bringing together four fantastic organisations: Age Well East, Essex Carers Support, Citizens Advice, and Essex County Council – Finance Advice.

The day was a great success, with a constant flow of patients visiting each table to seek advice, support, and guidance. Every organisation commented on the high level of engagement, with no quiet moments throughout the event.

One representative from Essex Carers Support remarked:

“It just shows how much patients listen to their GP surgery.”

Age Well East also shared how pleased they were with the turnout, explaining that the event was “extremely busy in comparison to what they are used to” and confirmed they would be delighted to attend future events.

We are also exploring opportunities with the Highwoods Community Hall team to collaborate on future community hubs – including the exciting possibility of setting up a new gardening club.

Family Workshops - 2024

In the summer of 2024, North Colchester PCN partnered with EXTRA Support for Families to deliver three inclusive online workshops designed to support families with Emotional Regulation, ADHD, and Challenging Behaviour. The sessions provided practical strategies, guidance, and reassurance for parents and carers. They were so well received that, due to popular demand, we were delighted to run the workshops again in the autumn of 2024. Feedback from families highlighted how valuable it was to have accessible, supportive resources available within the community.

Menopause Workshops - 2023

As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing health inequalities, North Colchester PCN hosted regular workshops throughout 2023 designed to help patients better understand the support available to them.

Our menopause workshops are led by clinical members of the PCN, who provide expert insight, practical advice, and reassurance to those navigating this important stage of life.

To support attendees, we provided goody bags which included a cooling gel pillow and a healthy lifestyle information sheet, offering further guidance on ways to self-manage symptoms.

Feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive. Many told us they felt:

  • More informed about HRT and treatment options

  • More confident in making healthy lifestyle choices, including those supporting bone health

  • Better aware of mental health resources and where to access support

We are delighted that these workshops are making a real difference and will continue to provide opportunities for patients to access trusted information, clinical guidance, and community support.
